Q. Is hypnosis safe?
A. Hypnosis happens to all of us as part of normal life.  This is a beneficial occurrence that allows the mind a “time out” to process information.  

Q. Can everyone be hypnotised?
A.  Usually.  It is a naturally occurring state.  If the person really does not want to be hypnotised there are other techniques I can use to help. However, I have not experienced a client, wanting to do so, not go into hypnosis.

Q. What is hypnosis like?
A. Hypnosis is a state of relaxed awareness.  All hypnosis is self hypnosis.  My job is to facilitate a client to access hypnosis quickly and easily.  This means that you are in total control all of the time.  You can hear, feel, see, smell, move, etc. exactly as you usually can. However, because the relaxation felt during hypnosis is very pleasant most people choose to close their eyes and remain fairly still.  Relaxing colours, patterns and images may be “seen” behind your closed eyelids.  Clients often report pleasant sensations of feeling really light or heavy, even floating.  After hypnosis you feel relaxed yet refreshed, as if you have had a bit of a sleep.

Q. Is it safe to drive after hypnosis?
A. Yes.  There is a feeling of being refreshed in a relaxed way with full awareness of the world around you.

Q. What if I don’t want to be hypnotised?
A. That’s fine.  I have a lot of experience with three other, very effective therapies so it isn’t always necessary to use hypnosis. 

Q. Are there any side effects?
A. My clients report only beneficial ones such as tension release and feelings of relaxation.

Q. Should I continue taking prescribed medication?
A. Yes, if your GP or hospital has instructed you to do so.

Q. What is the success rate?
A. It would be unlikely that hypnotherapy continued to become more popular as a therapy if it didn’t help people!

Q. What can I expect to happen?
A. The most important thing is that you should feel comfortable and at ease with your therapist. This is particularly important in hypnotherapy as the value of treatment is greatly enhanced when you have confidence in the practitioner.  Some people require only a few sessions, whereas others may need a course of therapy.  As a professional hypnotherapist I am committed to helping you as swiftly and effectively as possible.

Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. Much depends on the nature of the problem, how an individual responds and what else is happening in their life. Some solutions have a set number of sessions, e.g stress management. Appointments can be spaced out if required.
